$300 Comfort Center euthanasia · 717 Mateo Street, Downtown LA

why we built it

Pets don't have to spend their last moments with you somewhere that smells like a hospital.

Some families want to say goodbye at home, and we come to them. But home isn't always the right answer. Sometimes there are roommates, or stairs, or small children, or a landlord, or a memory you'd rather not keep in your living room. Sometimes home is simply too hard.

The Comfort Center is the other option — and it's not a clinic with the lights dimmed. It's a building we designed specifically for this hour, so that the alternative to home is somewhere genuine and gentle rather than somewhere merely available.

LOCATED AT 717 MATEO STREET IN DTLA

Your pet's end-of-life and aftercare, all under one roof.

With four spacious comfort rooms located at our 10,000 s.f., Comfort Center, you never have to hurry, and neither does the family before you. After your farewell, your pet stays in one building, in our care, from your goodbye through their return home.

comfort rooms

Comfort rooms that feel more like a living room than an exam room.

Soft light, a sofa you can actually sit on together, a door that closes. Bring a blanket, a favourite toy, as many people as you want. Other pets are welcome. Children are welcome.

Small acts often turn out to matter most.

In each comfort room, there's a table set aside for whatever you want to do. Anything you make can stay with your pet through water cremation, so a part of you goes with them the whole way.

HOW IT WORKS

Three stages, none of them rushed.

1

A gentle, peaceful passing

A calming sedative helps your pet relax first. Once they're fully asleep, a second medication allows them to pass. You can hold them, talk to them, or just sit. Whatever feels right.

2

Your pet stays in our care

Afterward, your pet stays in this building for water cremation. There's no transport company, no third party, no handoff. The same team is with them the whole time.

3

A return home

If you've chosen individual cremation, ashes come back in our Honor Box with keepsakes — a nose print, a fur clipping, forget-me-not seeds, and a tree planted in your pet's name.

questions families ask

Common questions.

How is this different from putting my pet to sleep at the vet?

Our Comfort Rooms were built for this and nothing else. They're private, soft, and quiet — no exam table, no lobby, no schedule pressing on the door. You get the room for as long as you need it, and a memorial station if you want to mark the moment.

Should I choose in-center or in-home?

Both are the same care from the same team. In-home means your pet stays in their favourite spot and we come to you. In-center is often the better choice when travelling is manageable but home isn't the right setting — and it costs less. If you're unsure, call us and we'll talk it through with no pressure either way.

How do I know it's time?

There's rarely a clear signal, which is part of what makes it so hard. Our pre-planning and quality-of-life consults exist for exactly this — space to talk it through with a veterinarian and make an informed decision, with no obligation to schedule anything.

Can I get an appointment today?

Often, yes. We take same-day appointments seven days a week when we have availability. Calling or texting (323) 515-1234 is the fastest way to find out.

What happens to my pet afterward?

They stay in this building. We care for their water cremation here — a gentle, water-based process that uses about 90% less energy than flame cremation. Choose individual cremation and their ashes come home in an Honor Box; choose communal and they're scattered on a private nature reserve in Temecula.

What if I can't afford this?

Tell us. We started the Honor Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, because cost shouldn't decide how a pet's life ends. It helps cover end-of-life care for families who need support.

You don't have to have decided anything to call us.

If you want to see the space before you book, come by. If you'd rather just ask a question, that's what our care team is for.
